| So a couple years ago... ok maybe just one, I was trying to figure out why the hell my car wouldnt boost abover 7psi. I ran open wastegates back then to check and see if my Z would even boost above 7psi and it did. I was young and afraid back then so i didnt take my car above 10psi in fears of hurting something. I gave in and got a Greddy Profec Type-S boost controller. Installed it and all was well at 10psi. Until i turned the knob. The EBC for some reason would not go above 10psi. No matter how far i turned the "Hi Boost" knob. I installed and reinstalled the EBC numerous times hoping that I would feel stupid and look over something. Fast forward to this past week. A bunch of friends are having a Dyno Day this upcoming saturday and I decided to prep my car top to bottom to get the most accurate result. I didnt want to walk away from the dyno with the whole "could've been better" mentality if i had boost leaks or corroded connections. I executed the 6 P's and various cleaning procedures to the T... or P.. anyways.. I fixed some boost leaks, adjusted the timing to 17btdc (was 10, dont know why). Readjusted my TPS and reset my ECU. I took it out for a test drive and the fact that the EBC wasnt doing its job still bothered me. I wanted to run as much boost as safely possible on the Dyno day (15lbs) So i went to ace hardware and I made a MBC out of some hardware supplies. Quite a nice specimen actually. Once again, no matter how far i turned the bolt inwards (to resist manifold pressure) it wouldnt go past 10lbs. So finally tonight got to the point that i didnt know what could possibly be wrong. Im near sufficating the wastegates with my MBC and im not getting any response. So finally I ran open wastegates again with a little more bravery. Well guess what. With open wastegates my turbos wont boost over 10psi themselves. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? My friend suggested Wastegate Springs.
